You Should Visit Okayama in Japan!

Today I will tell you about Okayama prefecture where our office is. Okayama pref. is really nice place and has many sightseeing spots, so I'm sure you'll like it.
DIRECTIONS
Okayama Pref. is at the south of Japan.
The easiest way to get there is as follows:
If you come by airplane from Tokyo, you should use Tokyo International Airport (also known as Haneda Airport). It takes about 1h 20 min from there to Okayama Airport.
In case of using a train, it takes about 3h 20 min from Tokyo to Okayama Station by Shinkansen (it means bullet train). If you want to come to Okayama from Osaka, you would better take a Shinkansen because it takes only about 45 min from Osaka to Okayama Station.
SIGHTSEEING SPOTS
・Okayama Korakuen Garden (Japanese traditional garden)
This garden is one of Japan's three major gardens, so there is the most beautiful place and has an atmosphere that is relaxing. Japanese tea ceremony (it is called “Sado” in Japanese) is held, and also you can experience many Japanese traditional event there.
Also you may hear cranes singing because Korakuen has them. If you never hear to their voice before, I think that it is worth hearing to it once.
・Okayama Castle
Okayama Castle is called “U-jo” (Crow Castle) because of its color, jet-black. It was built in the late 16th century.
Okayama Castle is near Korakuen, in summer you can see the castle and Korakuen are lightened up. Inside, there are interesting displays and you can see the beautiful scenery from the top floor of the castle.
・Bikan-chiku (Kurashiki Bikan Historical Quarter)
Bikan-chiku is in Kurashiki city, Okayama. Kurashiki is the second largest city in Okayama pref. and our office is also located to this city.

Many buildings are characteristic in this area. There are old buildings left, so you can feel atmosphere of old Japan like Kyoto. In old times, there was one of the industrial towns, and now many of storehouses have been converted into museums, cafes, souvenir stores, galleries and so on.
Also, river boats operate for sightseeing there. Let's take a river boat and experience Old Japan. There is a famous museum, its named the Ohara Museum of Art in Bican-chiku. It was built in 1930. It houses has many collection of European Art including works.
・Ohashi House
Ohashi House is designated the important cultural property of the country.
The Ohashi family was the greatest merchant class of Kurashiki, and the famous as the family who made a lot of contributions to society.
You would understand the life history of the Ohashi family and see the Japanese traditional life style when you go there. The kitchen, the living room, the garden are very wide and beautiful. The house is always crowded with tourists to see. You can go inside the house while taking off your shoes.
Okayama is a really nice city. You are very welcome always to visit there. Walk down the alleys to find your favorite place.
