Dump truck (or a.k.a. tipper truck) can transport the heavy loads with the rear body that can lift up and lean, which makes possible to slide off the contents inside. (If you don’t know the differences about rear body, please refer to following article: What Kind of Body Type Are You Looking For?)

As for our website, many people have been giving us inquiries on this type of truck; Now, one fourth of people are asking in fact.

You usually see “DUMP TRUCK” like this picture, don’t you?

Although we just call above truck “DUMP / TIPPER”, there are also different kinds of Dump truck. Some people don’t care what function each type of Dump has.
For the person who doesn’t know dump well, we will be glad that this would be helpful to get bits of knowledge.

1) REAR DUMP

This is the most common type that most of you know: Its dump body is lifted and leans toward back of the truck, and the contents fall to the behind the truck. In Japan, also this type of truck is known generally.

2) SIDE DUMP

This type can drop off the loads inside of the rear body to the right or left side of the truck, however, cannot do the back side, which is useful when you want to carry sands or small rocks to fill the gap on the edge of roads. For us, we rarely see this type of trucks because it is used for only limited places like narrow roads.

3) REAR-SIDE DUMP　

This type is combined the functions of REAR DUMP and SIDE DUMP. Thus, it can lift the rear body up to three-ways, back, right or left side.
We sometimes have this type in stock.

4) L(F)GATE DUMP

Usually the bottom of rear gate is open, and the content is fall down. As for this type, the top of the gate is open like above picture; the rear gate is flat to the bottom of rear body. It makes you easier to load off the contents like larger gravels smoothly. When the gate is open, it looks like the alphabet “L”, so it is called “L GATE DUMP” (also it is called “F GATE DUMP” standing for “Flat”.)

5) DEEP-SIDING DUMP

This type of truck has different siding, and its height is higher than the others. This is often used for carrying the light bulk loads like wood chips, garbage etc.
We also call it “prohibited earth and sand dump” because if you load the heavy things like stones, sand etc. at the maximum, it is surely over the max loading capacity, which may cause a truck accident.

EX) HEAVY DUMP

This is usually used at the large construction, mining etc. It can carry over 11 tons, some are able to load maximum 300 tons. In Japan, it is not allowed to drive on the public streets because of its heavy vehicle weight that can destroy the road.
