HINO and ISUZU have temporarily stopped manufacturing.

On 1st April, Isuzu Motors Corp. announced it will temporarily suspend production at its main factory in Thailand, due to the spread of the new coronavirus infection. The Thai government has declared a state of emergency and demand is declining, so that factory will be ceased operation from April 13 until the end of April.

At the same time, Hino Motors also decided to cease the factory in Thailand from 7th to 17th April. In addition, their parent company Toyota, which has a high market share in Thailand, has also announced the suspension. This is spreading a huge impact on Japanese manufactures, and others are deciding to temporarily suspend the factory.

Isuzu mainly manufactures pickup trucks in Thailand. In FY03 / 19, it produced about 320,000 vehicles, including those for Thailand and exports. The company is also producing the new pickup "D-MAX" released in October 2019, and the suspension may affect the timing of starting exports to other countries.

Isuzu has also shut down factories in Italy, South Africa and elsewhere, and so far, 11 of its 47 locations have stopped operating. Thailand, which has a large production capacity, will be temporarily stopped, and there is a concern that it will affect the business results.
