Have you ever wondered by what kind of shipping style a vehicle should be imported? I would like to introduce you some shipping style for vehicles and construction machinery. I hope this will help you when you are importing vehicles.

There are mainly 3 types of way to ship the vehicles / construction machinery to your nearest port.
1. Container
2. RO/RO Vessel (Roll on/ Roll off Vessel)
3. Conventional Vessel
I will explain to you about container, RO/RO and Conventional Vessel.

1. Container
Firstly, I would like to explain about containers. Container is a large cube made by metal.
It is loaded and unloaded to vessel hanged up by crane. There are various kinds of containers even if we just say “ship the vehicle by a container”. I will introduce several kinds of containers which are commonly used to transport vehicles / construction machinery.

1.1.  20 Feet container

This container is shorter container compared to 40 feet container. If you do not have much cargo to load, you can use this container to save a little cost.

1.2. 40 Feet container (standard)

Height (mm) 2.395mm

This container is longer container than 20 feet container. So we can put more vehicles or bigger vehicle to container.

1.3. 40 Feet container High Cube

Height (mm) 2.700mm

This Hight Cube Container is higher than 40 Feet container (standard) by about 1feet (30cm).
So we can load more vehicle than 40 Feet container (standard). 
We, Yamada Sharyo Co., Ltd. mainly use this 40 feet High Cube container to export vehicles and construction machinery, simply because it contains a lot!
 

1.4. Flat Rack Container
This container doesn’t have a top and right / left side walls. So, this container is suitable for the over wide, over high, and heavy vehicles and construction machinery which does not fit into cube containers. For example, over 20ton class construction machinery. However, if you want to export the oversized vehicle or construction machinery with flat rack container, additional cost will be charged to you because those containers need special attention when it is land transported, planning container location in the vessel, or all other shipping procedures.

2. RO/RO Vessel (Roll on/ Roll off Vessel)
Secondly, I explain about the RO/RO Vessel. This shipping style is one of the most major styles to transport vehicles. The most characteristic thing about this shipping style is that the vehicles are driven into the vessel by themselve. So it doesn’t take much time for loading and unloading.

3. Conventional Vessel
Lastly, I explain about Conventional Vessel. This vessel is similar with RO/RO ones. But there is one big difference with it. The vehicles are loaded and unloaded into the vessel with the huge crane attached to the vessel.
 

We charter the conventional vessel to MIZUSHIMA port in Okayama about once a 1- 2 months to Subic Bay, Philippines. So if you want to import the vehicles in Philippines we recommend you to use our chartered vessel to save excess cost!
