You Are an Eco-Friendly Driver, From Today On!
Aren't you driving dangerously? Driving dangerously not only can cause an accident, but also can make global environment worse. The 5 things below are what all the drivers ought to know. Let’s make it a habit to drive eco-friendly!
〇Idle Reduction
If you stop idling more than 10 seconds, you can save fuel. The amount of fuel required when starting the engine corresponds to about 5 seconds of idling. If you stop the engine for more than 10 seconds, you can expect saving fuel.
Also, when the engine is warming up, it is basic to start with accelerator OFF. If you keep the engine idling for 1 hour, it discharges about 10% of the engine displacement. For example, E13C engine, it is about 1.3 liters. And then, you will consume about extra 10% if you use air conditioners.
Tips for eco-friendly driving!
• Use Rest Stations in stead of resting in your car with the engine on.
• Use a standby device, when you use a refrigerated truck.
〇Increase speed gradually
It is said that using the gas pedal with 80% of its capacity is more eco-friendly if it is GIGA (Isuzu) or SUPER GREAT (Mitsubishi FUSO). If it is FORWARD (Isuzu) or FIGHTER (Mitsubishi FUSO), the best will be about 50%. Keeping these guideline leads an energy-saving driving.
Sudden acceleration will result in high engine speed and deteriorate fuel economy. If you accelerate rapidly to 50 km/hour, extra 20% to 25% of fuel will be consumed compared to when you accelerate slowly.
Tips for eco-friendly driving!
• Change into 3rd speed as soon as you turn on the engine.
• Never push the gas pedal hard suddenly.
• Be sure to stop rotating with top gear, while the car is in move.
〇Try constant speed driving
If the engine with low rotation / high torque type, engine rotational speed will not make any difference in terms of running. Even if it is less than 1,000 rpm, a large truck has sufficient torque, so the early shift-up will save energy. "Wavy driving" which steps on and off the accelerator pedal often is a big cause of fuel economy deterioration, so let's try constant speed driving.
Tips for eco-friendly driving!
• Keep a constant speed. Do not drive wavy.
• Do not leave the exhaust brake on all the time.
〇Keep the speed down
Exceeding the speed limit lead to deterioration of fuel economy. When you are driving highway, there is also a data that the fuel efficiency is deteriorated by 10% if speed increased by 10km/h. At the same time, risks for causing the car accident will increase.
Tips for eco-friendly driving!
• Reduce the vehicle speed not to exceed the speed limit.
〇Slow down the speed as early as possible
Foot brake generally consumes 20 to 25 cc additional amount of fuel per one time compared to engine brake. For example, if you use brakes 600 per day, you can save 3,600 to 4,500 liters of fuel in 300 days by using engine brake instead of foot brake.
Tips for eco-friendly driving!
• Decelerate with engine brake first.
• Remains the clutch engaged, and keep the gear in.
• Use minimum foot brake required.
Driving safely is not only decreasing the risk of the traffic accident, but also it saves up your fuel and money. If you found any new tips for your eco-friendly driving in this article, let’s try it from today!
