Function of Radiator
A radiator is located near the engine. (located at the front of the vehicle.) Primary purpose of radiator is to cool the engine and prevent a failure called overheating. In order that the truck runs, it is necessary to burn fuel with the engine, however a lot of heat is generated at that time. If it continues for a long time, the engine will be burnt and broken. So, it is very important to keep the radiator working normally at all times.
Mechanism of Radiator
Some air hit a radiator and cool down a cooling water (LCC/coolant, the liquid for cooling an engine) and then its liquid runs around the engine. By this system, the engine can keep the temperature at a certain level.
The circulation path from the tank that stores the cooling water is called a radiator hose and plays an important role for the engine cooling. Other parts also have necessary roles, for example, radiator core prevents dust and dirt from getting inside. A radiator cap works that apply pressure to an inside of tank to high the boiling point of the cooling water. Cooling fan operates to cool the cooling water. By these parts’ roles, engine cooling system can work normally.
Hot cooling water that has been heated around the engine and returned to the radiator tank is cooled by the wind that enters through the cooling fan, and repeats flow around the engine through the hose again.
Connection between front grille and radiator
A front grille has some bars and the wind is sent to the equipment in the engine room through it. Cooling water must be cooled for the radiator to work even more effectively, and hot air must be exhausted outside to lower the temperature in the engine room. So, the grille is designed to cycle the wind, and to use wind effectively even when stopped or low speeds.
It is called as a radiator grille since the grille to protect a radiator has evolved and become integrated the body.
So, if all capabilities are the same, what important point for you when you buy a vehicle? I choose by the face of the vehicle. Most people may also pursue looks while focusing on capability to drive safely.
Failure and Inspection of Radiator
There are a few points that is not to damage a radiator. Most of failure details are mainly leaking from the hose or tank. Although the radiator is made ruggedly, it is actually a consumable item, and the cooling water that is repeatedly heated and cooled passes many times, so it degenerates day by day.
When you step on the accelerator, if you hear an unusual noise, if the engine speed is irregular, or if you find unusual sounds and behavior around the engine, please inspect the engine room immediately. If a radiator seems to have degenerated, replace it with new parts as soon as possible.
To protect the engine as the repair cost of it would be surprisingly high, the daily maintenance is essential.
